Manhattan Beach Residence Remodel
This great client has been an ongoing client of DJR for some time and I was brought in to help design and draft the remodel of the ground floor interior space and outdoor porch. These clients have moved from out of state and wanted to incorporate their past work into this space and make the space for entertaining guests inside and out.
New casework for the bar area was added to help the clients host parties and also showcase sports memorabilia they have collected over their lives. The back wall of the bar is edge-lit with LED to create an inviting space to congregate at. On the other side of the ground floor, we installed a murphy bed for guests staying the night and shrunk the footprint of the exercise equipment that took up this space during COVID. Showcasing their large shoe collection was also part of the job. Curating this by the exercise equipment helped this anchor the space and become a focal point when entertaining.
The outdoor space needed a more consistent floor surface, so we introduced composite decking and a gas line so the clients and guests could enjoy the warmth of the file while also looking out to the Pacific Ocean. Colorful coastal modern was the theme we were going for with the client. Furniture selection, finish selection, and art curation also happened throughout the rest of the house.
